| For good, old-fashioned family fun, don't miss the Lee County Fair, held each July in Donnellson, Iowa. This year the fair runs from July 9th - 14th and features a brand new attraction... INFLATABLES! The fair has the honor of being Iowa's oldest county fair and offers a variety of activities and entertainment for the entire family. The fairgrounds are easy to navigate and it is only a short walk between all of the fair buildings and events. Throughout fair week visitors can enjoy the many Livestock Shows in the livestock barns. The 4-H and FFA clubs present their projects and bring in cows, pigs, sheep, rabbits, geese, goats and small pets. There are plenty of open-class shows to participate in such as the horse show, open beef show and dog show. The Art Hall is always full of 4-H exhibits and art work. Plus it showcases needlework, food and craft projects by locals through the open -class divisions. You will also find portraits of past fair queens gracing the walls here and a very special exhibit each year. A stroll around the grounds will bring you by Farmer Bill's Barn, an inter-active children's farm to market learning site. The Ernie Rotter Barn Museum featuring past fair memorabilia. Along with many other contests and vendors scattered around the grounds. While you are at the fair stop in the Youth Learning Center (new in 2006) which features a number of activities and food throughout the week. Hosted from here are Kid's Day on Thursday, Senior Day on Friday, new in 2007 -a Wine Tasting competition on Saturday and the Chess competition on Sunday. Then there's the Grandstand featuring the best food of the fair in the Blue Ribbon Diner and home to the main grandstand events each evening. These events included the Rodeo, Local Talent Show & Crowning of the Queen, Truck Pulls, Sprint Car Races, Local Demolition Derby, Antique Tractor Pulls and Local Truck Pulls. Plus across the track in the pits is the newest event - ATV Mud Bogs. Also, alongside the Grandstand is the Entertainment Tent & Beer Garden showcasing nightly area bands (or a DJ) each evening of the fair. This is the place to party the night away. So take some time off, plan your week and come to the county fair! |

The Lee County Fair board announces date for 2008 Lee County Fair!! Look for the fair to run from July 9- 14 in 2008.
